Speed meets accuracy: The power of hyper-fast GC–TOF MS
Originally presented at Pittcon 2025
Conventional gas chromatography (GC) is vital in analytical
labs but can be time-intensive, while direct mass spectrometry (MS) compromises
on analyte detection and identification
reliability in favour of speed.
Hyper-fast GC with time-of-flight mass spectrometry (GC–TOF
MS) overcomes these challenges, delivering rapid analysis without sacrificing
performance. By using flow-field thermal gradient (FFTG) technology, fast
detection speeds and advanced data processing, it enables quick separation and
quantitation of analytes (even thermally labile ones) at lower elution
temperatures.
With fast chromatographic separation and full spectral data,
this approach ensures confident, high-throughput screening in applications such
as explosives residue detection, drug analysis, quality control and process monitoring
– all with accurate, rapid results.
