Graduate opportunity – Technical Sales development scheme

Schauenburg Analytics Group is looking for talented and driven individuals, looking to get more out of their career than routine laboratory analysis.

Whilst a grounding in analytical technologies is advantageous for this role, hands-on laboratory experience is not essential as a recent graduate’s experience is likely to be limited. But the candidate must have the right mindset and a drive to succeed. We will provide the training and support needed to develop a career within a technical sales position.

We are looking for graduates who are capable of “thinking on their feet”, have an enquiring mind, and can pro-actively look for ways to improve both themselves and the project or task they are working on.

This graduate opportunity is on the career pathway of our commercial sales team, with the objective of development as part of our pre-sales team.

First-year responsibilities

In your first year you will undertake training in our analytical technologies at our Bridgend Headquarters.

  • Gaining knowledge and experience across the full product portfolio from Group companies, Markes International & SepSolve Analytical.
  • Working as part of the sales support team to provide pre-sales technical support to new/potential customers.
  • Participate in prospecting activities and customer outreach to identify new business opportunities.
  • Undertake regular customer outreach activities to build and maintain our customer relationships, gather feedback, and identify new business opportunities.
  • Supporting wider sales activities in conjunction with field sales team, product specialists, and our global network of distributors.

Second-year responsibilities

In your second year you will undergo further training on our range of analytical instrumentation including thermal desorption, multi-mode extraction & enrichment platform, GCxGC, and time-of-flight mass spectrometry as well as our range of other accessories. During this second year of the program, there is the scope to focus in more detail on different elements of the technical sales process, which will be driven by your development and progress during the first phase of training.

  • During this year, activities will be guided by the specific area of focus, but could include:
  • Independently act as initial point of contact for customers via company webchat, telephone, and email channels.
  • Prepare and pro-actively follow-up of quotations to both customers and distribution channels.
  • Build on your problem-solving skills and develop your analytical knowledge as you respond to a wide variety of customer requests, and develop your relationship with our customers.
  • Undertake pre-sales support activities alongside our direct field-sales team and regional sales managers, including opportunities for on-site customer visits or events.
  • Support customer training activities such as user meetings, technical workshops.
  • Continue your training and development through a variety of channels including structured classes, online training and mentoring.
  • Occasional travel may be required as part of this role which will be predominantly in the UK and accompanied by our field sales or market development specialists.
  • As a global organisation, our team supports colleagues & customers across Europe and the rest of the world, therefore opportunities for international travel may be possible, as experience is gained.

All our teams work closely together to ensure that we deliver high quality technical innovations for our customers and your experience and feedback from customer engagement will have an influence on our future products.
