Markes International and SepSolve Analytical launch free-to-attend Masterclass series

SepSolve Analytical and Markes International are delighted to announce the launch of a new Masterclass series of free-to-attend, in-person events designed to share expertise, showcase advances in analytical science, and help analysts strengthen their workflows for sample extraction and automation for gas chromatography (GC, GC×GC and GC–MS).

The first three Masterclasses will take place in October 2025 at Markes and SepSolve UK facilities:

• Thermal desorption in practice – fundamentals, advances and applications (1 October, SepSolve Analytical, Peterborough)
• Extending the limits of sample extraction and concentration (2 October, SepSolve Analytical, Peterborough)
• Non-target analysis in practice – from extraction to interpretation (21 October, Markes International, Bridgend)

Each event brings together leading experts from academia, industry and our own technical specialists to present cutting-edge applications and share their experience. With laboratory tours and live demonstrations, delegates will also see how complementary techniques such as cryogen-free trapping, advanced separation and intelligent data analysis tools can extend analytical capabilities and improve confidence in results.

“These Masterclasses are about much more than product demonstrations,” explained Massimo Santoro, Director of Business Development at Markes & SepSolve. “Our aim is to create an open forum where scientists can learn directly from peers in academia and industry, gain practical insights into workflows, and explore how new approaches can help them meet the analytical challenges they face.”

A global programme of education

The October Masterclasses mark the start of a broader programme. Further events are already planned for Markes’ facility near Frankfurt in Germany before the end of the year, with additional sessions under consideration at our US location in California. This expanded programme will allow SepSolve and Markes to bring educational events to a wider audience of analysts across Europe and North America.

“By extending the series internationally, we want to provide more opportunities for scientists to access practical training, expert knowledge and cross-industry discussion – wherever they are based,” added Dr Santoro.

About the Masterclasses

The Masterclasses are free to attend and open to analysts from all sectors, whether they are new to techniques such as high-capacity sorptive extraction, thermal desorption, GC×GC, or TOF mass spectrometry, or already experienced users looking to deepen their understanding. Each event includes:

• Expert presentations from academia, industry and SepSolve/Markes specialists
• Case studies highlighting applications in environmental, health, food & drink, energy, automotive, flavour and fragrance research
• Hands-on laboratory tours demonstrating sample extraction, concentration, separation and detection technologies
• Live demonstrations of intelligent software tools for simplifying complex data interpretation
