Evaluating the effect of storage and packaging on the volatile composition of soft drinks

Immersive sorptive extraction coupled with comprehensive two-dimensional gas chromatography and BenchTOF2™ time-of-flight massspectrometry (GC×GC–TOF MS) was used to identify potential migrants from food and beverage packaging.

Two plastic bottles of the same ‘cola’ soft drink were subjected to different storage conditions for eight weeks – one bottle was stored in a fridge, while the other was left in direct sunlight.
